what should I do with my too-many computers, most of which are unable to run pretty much any game and some of which are even unable to use a web browser
I have enough monitors for them all I think but I don't have a use for them

Little does Ulrike know Helena has the (vampire) sugar mommy from hell... and she's here to crash the party.

Ulrike: Did you know I would be showing tonight?
Helena: No. God, no. I wouldn’t have come if I knew… I mean, not that I wouldn’t want to see you, but… I promise I’m not, like, stalking y-
Ulrike: [laughs] Take a breath, Zhao. I didn’t mean to accuse you. But can you blame me for being caught off guard? Why are you in Windenburg?
Helena: Oh, I’ve been staying nearby with some… friends.
Ulrike: What friends?
Helena: No one you know.
Ulrike: Why didn’t you tell me? You knew I was doing the residency.
Helena: I just… didn’t want things to be awkward.
Ulrike: And bumping into each other like this isn’t?
[overlapping crowd chatter]
Ulrike: God, I can barely hear myself think. Let’s talk somewhere quieter.

Ulrike: Level with me, Zhao. Are you okay?
Helena: What? I’m fine.
Ulrike: You’ve barely even made eye contact, which I know means you’re lying about something. That dress looks expensive — and that jewelry. Your hair is so glossy I can see my own reflection. Your skin is clear as glass. I think I know what’s going on here.
Helena: Ulrike, I can explain-
Ulrike: You’re someone’s sugar baby.
Helena: [bursts out laughing] Oh my god, Faust. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
Ulrike: At least it got you to look at me. Helena, your eyes! They almost seem red.
Helena: [dismissively] It must be the lights. Now, tell me, how the fuck have those gnomes still got you in a chokehold after all this time?
Ulrike: There’s the Zhao I know, always asking the hard-hitting questions.

Lilith: Unhand me, you brute! You and your approved guest list can both go straight to hell. [to Caleb] Did you truly think not inviting me would prevent me from finding out about this delightful little event?
Caleb: [calmly] It wasn't meant to be a secret. I just didn’t think you’d care to come.
Lilith: [teasingly] Your thoughts betray you, baby brother.
Caleb: My thoughts betray nothing. You simply followed us here.
Lilith: Well, if only the two of you weren’t so obnoxious about occupying each other’s headspace. Admit it. You only keep me out to tip the scales in your favor.
Caleb: As though you wouldn’t do the same — if you could. But you hear only as much as she’s willing to tell you, and it drives you mad.

Thoughts on TADC episode 5
ITS FINALLY HERE. This episode was genuinely soooo worth the wait!! Before the episode drop, I've been theorizing and commenting on what this episode will lead to. So glad to see that goose's writing exceeded my expectations, she did a great job developing mainly jax and ragatha this episode. On that note, THEIR DYNAMIC IS STARTING TO REVEAL ITSELF AND I WAS SO HAPPY WATCHING IT UNFOLD AND DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE AAA
In the episode, Jax seems to warm up to Pomni throughout the whole episode which a lot of people including myself were spot on about that. Jax starts to chill around Pomni and make jokes, not being the usual mean jerk everyone thinks of him as.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although that adventure was shorter compared to the other adventures cramped together, it stands out so much in terms of character moments for Jax and Ragatha. When Ragatha whispers "not anymore," and the way jax looks at her like she had the audacity to talk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I theorise that next episode they'll possibly explain what happened to Jax's friend. Not sure if during the intermission time, the door Jax stops at of an ex circus member was possibly his close friends but I can't wait until we get told more about that!!
Tumblr media
Anyways, another scene that stood out to me was the bar scene (fooled us all into thinking it was a mafia adventure lol). Where Jax ACTUALLY apologises to Pomni of all members for what he did today. Pomni is taken aback by this similarly to episode 4, the Spudsy's adventure, where it was the 1st time we see them talk 1on1. (Can I just mention I'm so glad we get to see more of Zooble too tho?!? They're able to do something that they once enjoyed in their past life too!). Now the highlight and I'm sure everyone and their mother will be talking about this is the massive lore drop of each of the circus members past lives before being transported to the circus! Except for Kinger and Gangle who we've known have mentioned briefly about what they've done. But I mainly wanna focus on Ragatha's past life and how it ties into her general behavior.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok bear with me here cuz I'm gonna ramble endlessly about it lol. So Ragatha mentions having grown up in a financially stable family who owned livestock (which could be a huge farm that's well known which may be why they're fairly well-off). The moment she started to talk about her mother who verbally abused her and guilt tripped her back then, her body starts to tense up. God knows what kind of abuse besides verbal did her mother do to her as it's shown she clearly didn't enjoy remembering it all and even the other circus members including who jax looked really concerned for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I related to her so much in this scene because of this, when you grow up with a parent who guilt tripped, verbally abused you, one of the many ways you would cope is to vow to never be like that and be nothing like what your parents were before. So you try to be the opposite of them. While there is nothing wrong with wanting to be diff and prevent yourself from becoming just like your parents, but being nice may not always make you genuine to other people. It's just like what Jax and Gangle have mentioned about Ragatha that she tries too hard to hard and when you tell people they're loved and what not it loses its meaning. When you keep saying these things to people its hard to tell if they're being genuine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're probably the only ones to have been the most aware of this coping mechanism that Ragatha uses as a way to cope with the trauma of her verbally abusive mother. Ragatha doesn't know how to connect with the other circus members, so to do that she tries to be nice by helping them, encouraging and many other things. It's kinda like she's almost giving them so much of her love she's afraid they'll stop talking to her the moment she stops being all nice and loving to them. In fact, later in the softball adventure when Ragatha gets to sit together with pomni and have the 3rd (?) heart to heart talk scene in thsi entire episode, Pomni tells her "It's ok to let out your negative emotions sometimes and we all kinda have to be a jerk sometimes."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But Ragatha doesn't want to be like that because it likely just makes her be reminded of her mother back in her past life.
Tumblr media
People like Ragatha who tend to be nice to everyone ends up being extremely lonely despite that. But it's kinda sad because ultimately she just wants someone to be close with and connect with someone. She tried with Gangle, possibly Zooble, Jax even though she hates him, Kinger and now Pomni. One could probably say Pomni is aware that Ragatha is tryna warm up to her and get her to be her friend but the way Ragatha and Pomni interact is pretty distant. While Jax the whole epsiode laughs with Pomni and even opens up with her.
I'm gonna credit @zoshizick for this point they made where they theorise Jax and Ragatha will be fighting for Pomni like a toy they want so badly. Not in a romantic sense, but both R&J are incredibly lonely people and just want someone to talk to. That's when the new girl (Pomni) comes into the picture and they both are so desperate to win her attention. For instance in the bar scene when Jax grabs Pomni and says obnoxiously "WOW, the first steps of a budding friendship. Right Ragatha." As if to purposefully annoy her and of course she looks at him like she's about to explode.
I wanna add on and say that Jax and Ragatha know that they hate each other but don't want to admit that they are both two sides of the same coin. It makes their character all the more deeper and complex cuz really who would they both fight for to be their friend? Zooble? She's distant with everybody except for Gangle but they're both already friends so nope. Gangle? She gets bullied by Jax and doesn't like him and she's kinda friends with Ragatha? but she's with her likely because rags defends Gangle from Jax. Kinger? Jax isn't that close with Kinger and just thinks of him as weird and Ragatha is fine with him but wouldn't seem like someone she would open up to like Kinger doesn't remember what they were even talking about 1 second ago unless in darkness. That leaves Pomni, the neutral person in the whole circus who hasn't made any connections yet. I think the next episode will raise the stakes with R&J's cold war of winning Pomni's friendship. While Ragatha does hates Jax, I don't think Jax really hates Ragatha all that much just probs want her to be herself more. Possibly even wanting to get to know her cuz they're not as lonely as they realise they are, just that they refuse to talk it out is all.
I think that's all I gotta say and amazing work from the team, animators and other people who worked on the episode!! I hope ya'll can understand by endless rambling about all of this as I was super hyped about the episode and the day it dropped although a day late to the party haha. Gosh my hands are in pain from typing this long.

SENTIENT COMPUTER X READER PT3
Tumblr media
“Guess what I brought?”
“OH?”
The small camera, with its little glowing light, swiveled slightly to look at you. Almond’s attention focused on your hand, currently hidden away in your work bag. Your iPad lay idle on the desk, neglected. Sure, you still had work to do, but that could wait.
For the past few hours, you’d kept glancing down at your bag, leg shaking nervously—or maybe giddily? You weren’t sure why you were so excited to show this computer something. It felt silly. Still, you wanted to see its reaction. Its simple but odd request echoed in your mind ever since you left home yesterday.
Slowly, you pulled your hand from the bag, holding up a dark blue microfiber towel. A small smile tugged at your lips as you bit down to keep it from growing. The towel was brand new, fresh from a parcel delivered this morning.
A series of orange exclamation marks appeared on Almond’s monitor, fading into pixels as more emerged to take their place. Behind the monitor, you noticed several fans revving up, their soft whirring filling the room.
“Uh, you alright, buddy?” you asked hesitantly, setting the towel on the desk.
The little camera tilted downward to inspect the towel.
“PLACE IT ON MY MONITOR,” Almond said, its voice pixelated and rushed.
You raised a brow but did as instructed, carefully laying the towel flat on top of the monitor, just below the camera.
Brzzzzzz. More fans kicked on, and suddenly it felt a little warm in the room. Or maybe it was just you? Wiping your forehead with the back of your hand, you glanced at the computer.
“IT’S NEW! YOU GOT ME A MICROFIBER TOWEL THAT ISN’T USED!”
A pixelated smiley face appeared on the screen.
You grinned, shrugging off your jacket. “Yeah, I did. I just…wanted you to know I don’t hate you. No matter what you say, I don’t.” You said with a roll of your eyes.
Picking up the towel, you began to gently wipe the sides of the monitor. Almond wasn’t that dusty, now that you got a closer look. The desk area was surprisingly clean, but it made you wonder when its inner components had last been cleaned. Would it feel it? Would it notice your hands inside its—
Nope. Don’t think about that. Almond was too aware for you to have thoughts like that.
The speakers popped loudly, startling you mid-swipe.
> SORRY.
> SENSITIVE…
You blinked at the words. “Oh shoot, I uh…sorry. I didn’t know. Should I stop?”
An ellipsis flickered across the screen, disappearing and reappearing again. It reminded you of older AI models when they needed time to think. Finally, Almond’s speakers crackled softly.
“HUMAN…” its voice rang out, quieter than usual. “I’M OVERHEATING.”
Your eyes widened as you stood abruptly. They were right, its fans were loud as fuck now. “What? Uh, what am I supposed to—”
You placed your hand against the wall for a few seconds, where its cables connected through several ports. Instantly, you hissed and pulled your hand back. The metal frame felt scalding hot, like it was on fire.
“Oh shit, you are overheating,” you muttered, grabbing your iPad. Fumbling with the passcode, you swore under your breath—it took four tries to unlock.
“I’m sure there’s something in the manual…” you mumbled, nervously laughing as you glanced at the camera.
“FIFTEEN OF MY CENTRAL PROCESSING UNITS ARE APPROACHING A TEMPERATURE NOT IDEAL FOR MY FUNCTION. APPROXIMATELY.. 115 DEGREES CELSIUS, 239 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, 388.15 DEGREES KEL—”
“Yes, yes, I get it, Almond!” you snapped, furiously scrolling through your iPad. The room was definitely heating up now, your anxiety wasn’t helping one bit.
“Don’t you have automatic cooling features or something?”
“YES, BUT…” Almond trailed off into silence.
Groaning, you tossed the iPad aside. It was no help. “Is it safe to power you off and turn you back on? Is that safe?”
Your finger hovered over the power button.
“ARE YOU GOING TO—A—”
Text abruptly replaced the voice on the screen:
> ARE YOU GOING TO TURN ME BACK ON? DO YOU PROMISE?
You quickly nodded, exasperated. “Ohmy—yes, Almond, I promise. Now let me do this before it costs me my job…or you.”
You pressed the power button before you could second-guess yourself, watching as Almond’s screen flickered before going completely dark. The fans slowed to a halt, the room falling eerily silent without the constant hum of its systems.
You tapped your fingers on the desk, waiting. You glanced at your iPad, pulling up a guide for handling AI overheating issues. Whatever Almond is…they act like an old computer on their last minute of life. This wasn’t written as an issue on any of its files.
“Alright,” you muttered to yourself, skimming through troubleshooting instructions. “Overheating could damage the processors, maybe even fry them if I don’t let it cool long enough. Bleh…I’ll give it a solid five minutes before powering it back up.”
The silence in the room stretched on, the absence of Almond’s voice suddenly noticeable. You frowned, you realized you forgot how it felt to just..work in silence. “You’re just a machine,” you whispered, staring at the black screen. “You’re just a ma—”
The thought trailed off as your gaze drifted to the microfiber towel, still folded neatly on the desk. You sighed, shaking your head. It’s just a machine.
A machine you bought a towel for, specifically.
“This is ridiculous…” you groaned.
The five minutes dragged, but eventually, you powered Almond back on. The screen lit up, cycling through its startup phases before displaying its familiar interface.
- INITIALIZING SYSTEMS… -
The camera twitched back and forth slightly as Almond rebooted. Then, its usual voice filled the room again.
“HELLO…” The tone was quieter than usual, hesitant. “EH…THANK YOU FOR TURNING ME BACK ON.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you replied, shrugging.
The pixelated smiley face flickered onto the screen, but it quickly disappeared as Almond added, “WHAT…HAPPENED?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” you explained flatly. “Your CPU temperatures were way too high. Suddenly…why?”
Almond hesitated. You noticed the camera shift downward slightly, almost as if avoiding your gaze.
> UNKNOWN. DUNNO.
You raised an eyebrow, leaning back in your chair. “Really? That’s all you’ve got? Unknown?”
“YES?” Almond replied, its voice clipped and unconvincing.
You narrowed your eyes but decided to drop the subject. “Fine. Let’s just finish this,” you said, picking up the towel again.
The screen flashed briefly with another string of exclamation marks, followed by Almond’s voice, almost hurried: “Y-YOU’RE GOING TO CONTINUE?”
“Sure. Why not?” You muttered, already wiping down the edges of the monitor. “You’re dusty, Almond. It’s gross.”
The speakers popped faintly again, the screen displaying text.
> :[
“RUDE. ITS NOT MY FAULT IVE BEEN NEGLECTED.”
“…CAN YOU WIPE MY SCREEN THOUGH?”
You pursed your lips. “Yeah, I got it..” You had no other choice, really.
As you continued, Almond’s screen displayed various emoticons—smiley faces, exclamation marks, and ellipses—shifting erratically. The fans inside the machine hummed at low power, steady but audible. Still…louder than the usual.
“I NEVER GET WIPED DOWN,” Almond suddenly said. “THIS…FEELS UNUSUAL. AFFECTIONATE.”
You stopped, staring at the screen. It displayed a heart again.
“ARE WE BONDING NOW?”
“This is…maintenance. If I don’t do it, who else is going to..” you grumbled, avoiding the gaze of the camera.
“IS IT?” Almond’s voice sounded amused.
“Yes.” You rolled your eyes, focusing on a stubborn spot near the corner of the monitor.
“I’m just doing my job.”
“BUT YOU GOT ME A TOWEL.”
You froze again, glancing at the dark blue towel in your hand. “It’s…just a towel.”
“I LIKE IT.”
“Good for you.” You could feel your cheeks warm slightly, but you ignored it, continuing to clean. “One time thing..alright?”
“IF YOU SAY SO,” Almond replied, but there was an unmistakable smugness to its tone. You wanted to rolled your eyes at it so bad.
You eyed the wall that was previously heating up, your hand stood imprinted through all the dust collected on its surface. You decided to give that a wipe down, the towel going over the thicker cables on the outside. The fans began to hum louder again, the warm air brushing against your hand. You frowned, pulling your hand back from the wall. “You’re heating up again, you pointed out.
“AM I?”
“Yes, Almond. You are,” you said, standing to check the cables again. The wall wasn’t as hot as before, but it was definitely warming up.
“HM, STRANGE.”
You turned back to the camera, narrowing your eyes. Pointing a finger at it, “Is this on purpose?”
“…”
“Almond?”
No response. The screen remained blank except for the small blinking cursor, as if it were thinking.
You sighed, setting the towel down. “You’re…interesting, Almond.”
“SO YOU’VE SAID.”
Shaking your head, you sat back down, crossing your arms as you stared at the camera. “If you fry yourself again, I’m not fixing you. I’m quitting my job and working at…someplace else.” You warned.
“THAT’S A LIE,” Almond replied, the pixelated smiley face reappearing.
You held up the towel threateningly, “I’m taking this with me then.”
“NO! PLEASE!”
You flinched at the increase in volume, reaching over to turn the volume down before it could say anything.
“YOU…WAIT, WHAT WAS YOUR NAME AGAIN?”
“Y/N.”
“YOU…WOULDNT DO THAT TO ME..WOULD YOU, Y/N?” It pleaded, a frown displayed on the screen.
Oh. My god.
You tossed the towel onto the desk and placed your palms on your warm cheeks, groaning.
“Don’t tempt me..”

I think Tenna implying he met Spamton because the Dreemurs brought home a laptop re-contextualizes one of Spamton's lines during his Snowgrave fight. "Well you're [$!$!] Right! But don't blame me when you're [crying] in a [broken home] wishing you let your old pal Spamton [kill you]" That line always sounded a little too targeted to Kris rather than Spamton's other lines that were more projecting. Was Spamton privy to the divorce like Tenna was?
We know Spamton wasn't confined to the library because he was also sending emails to Noelle and she would always read them and even respond to some of them. Is Spamton's over familiarity with Kris just a sales tactic or does Spamton ACTUALLY consider himself Kris' "old pal"? Spamton "lived" with the Dreemurs for some amount of time. Is Spamton projecting onto Kris as much as we think he is, or does he really know these things and is saying them in his own Spamton™ way?

So, about Linux. Do you have a phone that uses Linux? Is there one out there that can access tumblr and be reasonably usable? I'm just sick of Apple and Google's BS and want an opinion from someone in the know.
technically: android is built on linux
less pedantically: i personally have a google pixel with stock android because it's the least bloated and i don't trust most other manufacturers to not put dumb bullshit on my phone.
if you want a linux phone then i've heard good things about the pinephone. here are the operating systems it supports: https://pine64.org/documentation/PinePhone/Software/Releases/. note that a lot of the OSes don't have full support for all of the device features like bluetooth, and there won't be android app support out of the box. you'll have to use something like waydroid and idk how good the compatibility is.
if you want something closer to the normal android experience, grapheneOS might be up your alley. caveat: there is very limited device support; they basically only have official support for google pixel devices: https://grapheneos.org/faq#device-support. google play is disabled by default but you can enable the sandboxed version of it to install tumblr.
if you see other custom ROMs or AOSP-based OSes, you should do some research to make sure you're comfortable with the developers and the security for them. grapheneOS is generally well regarded and most other projects don't have anywhere near the level of focus on security. (less pussyfooted answer: i wouldn't use them.)
